He also mentioned that the team's determination and fight were impressive, especially since they were a young group. "The manager expects a lot from us, and we were not satisfied with just a draw – we wanted to win the match," Chilwell said.
Chilwell also discussed his role in the team, particularly in the five minutes leading up to halftime. "The manager asked me to come on and settle the game down, so we could regroup and discuss our strategy for the second half," he explained.
He added that the team was in control of the game even before Crystal Palace scored, and that the second half was about regaining control and building momentum.
Chilwell also talked about his experience as a senior player at 28, saying, "I'm actually thriving in this role. I'm enjoying the expectations placed on me as a player on the pitch."
He felt that as the older and wiser head in the team, it was his responsibility to help manage expectations and keep the team focused.
