“I’m very happy to be here and I’m buzzing with excitement,” he said. “I felt it was the right time for me to leave Liverpool and take on a new challenge. I want to be a number one goalkeeper and play every week, and I think Brentford is the perfect place for me to achieve that goal.”
Kelleher had been in talks with Brentford for several weeks before making the decision to join the club. He was impressed by the manager and coaching staff, and he feels that the club has a good track record of improving and developing players.
He also spoke to his Republic of Ireland teammate Nathan Collins and former Liverpool colleagues Sepp van den Berg and Fabio Carvalho about the move. They all spoke highly of the club, which made Kelleher feel more at ease about his decision.
“I like the way the manager and coaches work, it seems like a close-knit family club. I’m looking forward to working with them and improving my game,” he said.
